Nancy Bachana grew up along Florida’s St. John’s River and now lives with her husband, three kids, and a dog named Sully near New York’s Hudson River. She learned all about the Erie Canal when she studied urban planning and public history. Like Vivian does in the story, Nancy loves to walk and kayak along natural and manmade waterways to see the landscape from a unique viewpoint. One of her favorite jobs was working for the Staten Island Ferry - riding the big orange boat back and forth across New York Harbor.

Nancy is Museum Educator at the D&H Canal Museum, High Falls, NY—and working on Book Two of The Key to Puzzler’s Lock.

Nancy loves puzzles even though she doubts she could win any prizes at “Puzzle Palooza,” like Aiden does in the story.
